Today I was about to delete my anonymous Instagram profile, I have not touched the Setting since forever, When I was there, it’s kinda like a nightmare.
- I can’t delete my profile directly from the application
- I don’t even know which elements from the Setting are clickable (someone please help me find the right word for this situation!)
The first problem is actually not a new problem. I knew it before that you can’t delete your profile from the app. You need to go to their mobile site and delete it from there. I happened to forget and needed to google first. And when I found out I was like, “oh yeah, It’s always been like this, right?” Maybe it’s the decision from the business unit so they can keep the number of instagram users enormous. Most users probably were like “Yeah whatever, I’ll just leave it there.”
The second one is the real life example of “One step forward, hundred steps backward.” Instagram Stories and Archive features are very nice additions to the app to be honest. Removing Photo map (damn, man! That feature was lit! I could see how amazing my travel experiences were on top of the world map!) and this new design of Setting app are basically what hurting the users. Don’t make me start of Instagram’s idea of messing your photo grid!
Back then (or at least the current iPhone version) you can distinguish between the interactive and non-interactive elements. The design in current Android version is just plain laziness.
To end this post I want to quote this old saying “You don’t have to fix something that is not broken.”
